Camping 101

Well, I survived! Our first official camping trip was a success. Although it was just a one-nighter camping trip, it was still relaxing. Early Saturday morning we packed the car and drove to Homochitto National Forest in Mississippi and popped a tent. We were expecting to camp right on the lake, however we completely forgot that it was Veterans weekend and the place was booked solid.....except for the primitive camping area. My only request for this trip was to be near the restrooms...however that one request was not met. I dealt with it.
Vince was looking forward to doing a little hiking in the area, however all the hiking trails were closed. So back to the camp we went and started a fire...at 2pm. Why not! The rest of the afternoon was spent napping for me, Vince playing with fire, and Berkeley barking at the wind. Once it was dark, we fished out the marshmallows, wine, and breadsticks! Last week I did a little research on Pinterest trying to find something creative to cook over a campfire and came across this awesome breadstick idea. A can of breadsticks and a cinnamon and sugar mixture. They were incredible.
I hope everyone is enjoying their Wednesday! Next week is Turkey Day and I can't wait to see my favorite little nephews! So much to look forward to!

Cooking his breadstick. He really wanted marinara sauce...
