28 Weeks!

We have officially hit the 3rd and final trimester! I continue to get the question "Are you having twins?" or "Are you sure your doctor has your due date right?" No and yes. Because I am so short, this munchkin is starting to make me look like a giant rolly polly and people are starting to question the looks of me. I'm convinced that by 9 months my belly will be so big that it will look like my arms and legs have shrunk and Vince will have to roll me everywhere we go...that's even if he can fit me through the doorway to go anywhere. Needless to say, the back pain is severe! I've been around a lot of pregnant women in my life and never have I heard someone complain as much as I have about this horrific pain. The only relief is either seeing my chiropractor or lying down. With all this pain I'm enduring, I know it will all be worth it in the end. Soon we will be bringing little munchkin home to love on and the pain that I've experienced will all be a vague memory.

Fourth of July visitors

We were so excited when our family from Charleston decided they would be coming to see us in July...and then we bought a house. I was worried that the visit would be too crazy for everyone and that Vince wouldn't get anything done on the house and we wouldn't get to do much with the kids. I was wrong. The weekend was great! Vince was able to have even more hands helping out at the house and we were even able to spend time doing fun things with the kiddos. Thank you Nick for ALL of your sanding help!!!!
Fourth of July was spent cooling off by the pool with the kiddos while some of the adults worked on the house.
On Friday we enjoyed a girls day. Laura, my mom, and I headed to Babies R Us to register for Joseph! A little overwhelming but mostly a lot of fun! We ate lunch and ended our day with pedicures. While we were doing our girl thing, Nick took the kiddos to the Stennis Space Center (my dads new site!) where they got to play with space things and even take a tour of the site.
Saturday was a packed day of activities. Vince took some of the adults to the Abita Brewery where for an hour you can drink all the beer you want and take a 5 minute tour of the facility. Since I'm 6 months sober and my mom hates beer, we volunteered to take the kids to an awesome kids park we had been dying to check out in Abita. The boys loved it. Unfortunately, we all melted but for lunch we met back up with the big kids at the Abita Brew Pub where everyone cooled off with Root Beers and a yummy lunch. From what I hear the tour was a success....Aunt LaLa was toasted off of their new Strawberry beer...JEALOUS! After lunch we all drove to Pa K and JoJo's new house that was a few miles away. Their new house has a pond right behind it so the big and little kids fished for a few hours. The only thing caught were turtles. Uncle Vince almost caught a catfish but unfortunately kiddy poles only hold up to 2lbs of weight...bummer. Since there was no success catching a fish, we piled in the car and headed out for Snowballs which was a total hit and a great way to end the day/week.
I am so happy the crew came to visit and can't wait for them to come back and meet their new cousin and nephew Joseph in our new home!

The 6 Month Mark

On Thursday, I was reading my pregnancy apps and realized that I am now 6 months along! I don't know why but this seems like a big milestone for some reason. It's all going by so fast! Lately, I'm eating everything I can get my hands on. Mom bought a watermelon for the fourth of July and I think I could have eaten the entire thing. Anything cold and icy that's put in my face will be devoured.
So Joseph and I are moving right along, he's kicking up a storm and starting to cause some severe back pain (all part of the process, I know). I have found a chiropractor and hoping she will relieve some of the issues.
Sorry for the fogginess, the humidity is extremely intense right now!

Home Sweet Home

It's been a crazy last few days here in the swamp so let's play a little catch up! First and foremost, today marks our 6 month mark!!! Tomorrow we will be 26 weeks along! Joseph is starting to make me wobble and feel like an old woman and the back pains have appeared. Holy moly are they miserable! I'm getting plenty of back rubs from Vince.
Thursday was a big day for sure for not only Vince and I but for my parents as well. My parents announced to us back in April that they were 80% sure they would be moving to Louisiana where my dad would be transferring to Stennis Space Center site, for Jacobs. It was a surprise to say the least! They then surprised us again saying that this big move would happen ASAP this summer! Since then my mom came to town for two weeks to start her house hunting mission. She accomplished this mission and went home to help my dad pack the giant truck that would make an 18 hour trip across the map. Now let's backup to this past Thursday. Thursday the official announcement was made that they would be moving! By the way, keeping that a secret for two months was ROUGH but I did it!!!
Now to Thursday for Vince and I. Back in May...ok... maybe April (pregnant brain here) Vince and I found a home in Covington that we fell in love with. It has all the important things we've been looking for in a home such as enough square footage, garage, and some updating that we wanted to do ourselves. And bonus it has amazing landscaping along with all the herbs, blueberries, cantaloupe, okra, bell peppers, and tomatoes I could ever want.
We finally closed on Thursday and can now call this house OURS! On Friday, we began that process of updating the ceilings. Popcorn ceilings had to go. For two whole days, Vince scraped and I swept. The sweeping was and still is a lost cause at this point. We managed to get them done though, now the lengthy part begins...sanding, mudding, sanding, mudding, sanding, mudding...you get the point. This part was taking the most time since Vince was doing it all on his own. Luckily, my parents are finally here to help with the rest! After the ceilings are completely done, we move on to painting the entire house, should be easy enough with all three of my artists (Vince, mom, and dad). After painting is done, we then move on to reflooring the entire house. Vince and I have decided to be smart about it and lay hardwood laminate since we have a little one on the way and a dog, plus it's cheaper! Our mission is have this all done by August 1st so we can finally move in. I'm a little apprehensive about the timing and all that needs to get done but I have confidence that Vince and my parents can make this magic happen.

HOME!

We're not quite sure about this doggy door thing yet.

This was just a test spot, don't worry the fan was turned off and taken down.

SANDING and MORE SANDING
By day three, Berkeley's being put to work.

Thank heavens for mom and dads shop vac!
